The Drummer
Zoro, a native of Los Angeles, is one of the funkiest drummers on
the contemporary music scene today. His stellar playing has led to
an impressive range of worldwide musical adventures. For over 20 years he has performed on tour, record, TV and video with such
multi-platinum and Grammy award winning artists as: Lenny Kravitz,
Bobby Brown, The New Edition, Philip Bailey, Jody Watley, Frankie
Valli & the Four Seasons, Vanessa Paradis and many others.
The Educator
/ Motivator
A veteran of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Zoro is also a respected
educator. Along with teaching privately, he has conducted clinics
and master classes for Drum Workshop, Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks,
and Evans Drumheads. As a lecturer Zoro has influenced high school
and college students throughout the world with his high-powered motivational
and educational seminar entitled "Making Music……..
Business" a methodical and pragmatic approach towards achieving
your goals and dreams as a musician. He is an expert in the area of
personal motivation and achievement. The dynamic speaker’s charismatic
personality and unstoppable energy has captivated and inspired musicians
everywhere. He has also had a positive impact on the community as
an active national anti-drug spokesperson with his eminently practical
message "Dancing With Destruction." In a business that is
genuinely lacking positive role models, Zoro’s life reflects
nothing but positive energy and is affirmed by the fact that he practices
what he preaches.
The Writer
As a writer, Zoro’s first book is "The Commandments of R&B
Drumming: A Comprehensive Guide to Soul, Funk and Hip Hop" published
by Warner Brothers Publications. His in-depth articles have been published
by such diverse magazines as Modern Drummer, Rock N’ Soul, Teen
Magazine, Fresh, Muscle & Fitness, Blackbeat, Right On, all the
way to the Washington Post. He has appeared as the feature interview
in numerous national and international music publications as well
as a wide range of other magazines. Over the course of his career
he has generated literally, a mountain of press. In fact, more so
than many recording artists who employ top notch publicity firms.
Zoro’s enthusiasm for music and reaching your personal best is
contagious; he is known throughout the music industry as an exciting
communicator, motivator, and a positively powerful individual, but
he is perhaps best known as the tenacious groove drummer, that one-named
guy with the hat.
